Postage

It seems I have to start paying to post photos on my blog, something I am not keen on!!! I have even downsized my photos but it still not accepting them :(
My other option is to close my blog, something else I am not keen on really, I enjoyed blogging more then I thought I would. It is obviously a new thing this postage fee for photos.
So when I make my decision I'll let ya know

Week Recap

Ok so this is new to me, posting no photos!!!
So a review of the week without photos, you'll have to just use your imaginations ;)
We started off on Monday with a super out of sorts, high temp and grizzly as gnome. Got a terrible night with him, booked a doc appointment for Tuesday. He had a sore on his lip Tues morn, half an hour after walking out of the Doc's he was literally covered in spots! He had foot n mouth, great I thought. My sister was due to come down with her five kids at the end of the week. Did this mean I had to cancel!!
By Thursday he had perked up and was trying to eat again, his mouth had so many spots in it that eating was a painful mission. Past the contagious stage anyways.
I texted a friend to see if she wanted to meet for lunch, braving a trip out with the gnome. I fed him before leaving so I could just eat in peace. We were happily and obliviously sitting in the sun eating and chatting, when the resturant owner came out and suggested I buy my boy a drink.....
he was drinking out of the rabbits bottle on the side of the cage!! Lets hope the poor bunny never got foot n mouth!!
Friday was our 10th wedding anniversary, YAY. I let the kids wag school, took them into grandma's and went off for a long overdue hair appointment. Told the lass to do what so ever she wanted as long as she never cut it. Freshened the color up and put a curl in it for me to go out with Shane that night. I treated myself to a new dress (with horror I realized all my little dresses were really only appropriate for the beach not for Queenstown resturants). We left all the kids for the night with Grandma and Grandad. I was relieved to be able to do this after how miserable Cai had been all week, I fully figured our little celebration was going to be cancelled. (The kids were not fazed at staying with the grandparents as they got treated like royality, they took them all down to watch the Burt Munroe bike challenge on Oreti Beach that night and Saturday morning and then to the Santa Parade!!)
Anyways back to us, Shane was meant to have a job to do up the Condola's in Queenstown that Friday arvo, but when we got there, plans had changed on the Queenstown end and he booked in to do it Saturday seen as we were staying up that night. After Booking in to our Motel, we wandered down town, booked some tickets to the late night viewing of Skyfall ( more enjoyable then I expected). We ate an entree at one resturant, main at another and finished with desert at yet another one. Took us nearly 3hours. Have no idea how long it has been since I have had Shane all to myself like that. Crawled into bed at 1am, feeling like the cat that got the cream with all this one on one time.
We had a late check out so we never got out of bed til half after 10 on the Saturday. Walked back down the lake front and chose yet another resturant to have our breakfast. Wandered the Saturday markets and then headed off to do Shanes job. Took all of half an hour and they gave us a couple of passes to go up the condola's and 3 rides on the luges. Well trying to waste Shanes butt on that was a joke, I put it down to weight, the heavier you are the faster they go. I will stick to that theory anyways!
By then it was just about time to go to the airport and pick up my sister and her 5 kiddies. Sooo excited all over again I was. You know me, so excited I just about blew poor Ty to bits with my hug  :(
So there you have it, there will be plenty of cousin photos coming, you can just imagine the fun I am going to have this coming week ;)
Have a good week y'all X

Monday's Thrill

This guy rocked up on Monday afternoon & knocked on my door.
Where we are I get quite used to strangers knocking on the door, they want to camp on the section, they want to photograph the stag heads Shane has hanging as man throphies all around the place!! They want to photograph the trees or they are concerned about stock somewhere or the dead one thats been dead for a month ( I tell them it is seagull tucker!)
This guy was different, he asked if he could jump off the cliff behind our house!
How can I say NO to that. The day was perfect and he said he had always looked at this spot and wanted to try it for gliding.
oooooo yeeeeaaahhhh
Cai was no longer allowed to sleep, I rushed inside and woke him up, opened gates for this thrill seeker and went out to watch.
He just set it up and took off running over the side......
I must admit I was worried that he'd just drop straight to the bottom, get tangled in an electric fence or land in the sea.
I really should of figured he'd know what he was doing!!
He has a few goes, then informs me he is a tandem instructor from Queenstown and can give me a go!
Are you serious?????
Again how could I say No to that!
Made a quick call to Shane to tell him the go and just quietly have a skite ;)
A photographer from Southern Adventures had turned up so I had someone to watch Cai.
He gets me all strapped in and tells me to give a solid walk forward. Had hardly gone anywhere and my feet were airwalking and I was going rather fast backwards, then he tells me to run to go forwards, by heck mate I am dang well trying but my feet aren't even on the ground!!! Feel the pull on the harness and my gut spreads out over the strap around the middle, mentally thinking please don't take any photos now Mr Photographer, the airwalker gut hanger look is not flatering!
(I haven't seen his pics yet)
Then we are airborn and I am bum shuffled back into turtle shell seat I was carrying on my back. LOVED IT.
We went up and down the length of our farm, he had a go pro so I have a few pic's he took. He pulled a few moves to try and scare me, but that wasn't to be. We were doing one of our passes over the photographer and the school bus went past. I knew the kids would be straight out to see what was going on. We then went out over the sea and landed down on our beach. I had to run back up our hill with my turtle shell. He only came half way back up the hill and took off running back down the hill and up into the air he goes again, lazy hua, he got soar back up the top, I still bet him, lol.
Got back up the top and Cai goes "Cai turn, Cai turn", Cody was bouncing up and down wanting a go too! Maybe next time mate. He said he'd be back and any mates that want a go to come on up. Open invitation folks, take it while you can.

The funny thing was I was looking at booking Shane and I to go do this for our wedding anni, well even better, got to do it for free and in my own back yard

Needless to say this guy made my day :)

A weekend road trip

A tree fit for a Gnome!

This weekend Shane was away on a motorbike endurance ride, so waking up Saturday morning I figured why do we have to stay at home again. Packed up the kids, feed pets and headed to the East.
I have a friend in Owaka and have never got round to visiting her.
Taking the southern scenic route we called in to many scenic spots, walking to see 3 different waterfalls and exploring places we hadn't seen before.
I have taken soooo many photos and am trying so hard not to overload you with them but heres a little look at our adventures.

After a yummy tea at Noels, she took us down to Jacks Point to watch the penguins come in from their days fishing and head up the beach to their nests. Now that was very cool. Plan on going back now when the babies are hatched and they come down the beach to meet parents for a feed.

Waking up on Sunday to some glorious sunshine and the sound of Cody shooting Starlings. Noel's partner had him out target shooting, he was beaming big time.
I had never been to Nugget Point so that was where we all headed after our breakfast. Beautiful coastline, I took so many photos!!

More big penguins on our way to the lighthouse at Nugget Point.

The walk to Nugget Point was spectacular, something one has to see for ones self. The steepness of the landscape and the blue sea way down below you!

The Nuggets

This is the gnome with a very large seal at Cannibal bay,
Noels directed us to many other little beauty untouched spots on our return to her place.

Like this wharf at Pounamea.
It was sad to say bye, but we left with 24hrs of rad memories and so much to tell Dad when we got home again.
Plus new places to take family & friends when they are visiting our land down under.

The garden saga!

Right the story goes.......
There was a big panic to get the garden in, then a big panic for me to get the veges in
BUT
the fence never got put up did it!!!!

The lambs out grew their pen, had to let them out into the house paddock. The flexy net was doing very little to keep them out of the garden
Then to wake up this Sunday morning to find all pets in the vege garden went down like a concrete raft as far as I was concerned.
The calf was tangled in the fence, the horse had stomped all up & down my rows of spuds & the 3 rows of peas that had popped up, well they were pushed back down!
So without a word, from me or him (being the husband)
he went straight outside and started digging post holes.
As my mother put it, sometimes it takes something like this to get a job done!!

So now the vege garden is looking alot more finished, and timely too!

Fishing at Sea

Bye bye land, we had a beauty evening and I got the call up from hubby to hook the boat up, take the cover off and get it all ready.....
we'd be goin' fishing as soon as he got home from work.
I really liked the sound of that, it was a calm hot day and an evening out at sea would end it perfectly for me.
I went and after a little huffing n puffing got it hooked onto my truck, proud of myself that I hadn't broken anything or run anything over, but it all stopped there because when I got to the gate way and saw the muddy mess from the dairy grazers, I figured if I attempted towing through that I'd get stuck for sure!!!
So I left it there.
Pleased I did because Shane had to get creative trying to get through the gate.
The drama's didn't end there, we got down the ramp and Shane yelling instructions at me from the truck. I knew what I was doing alright, it just wasn't happening!!! So of course he comes bounding out of the truck, full of bluster.... blah blah blah
"just lift it woman!!!"
"I am lifting it HARVEY!!!"
get this, he could lift it too but guess what it still would move off the trailer!
To make matters worse the ramp is covered in green slime so can be a bit adventurous when the truck just starts sliding into the water.
He gets back in the truck, dunno what his plan was but he suddenly had a recollection of memory,
the light came on.....
the straps were still on the back!!!!
well by heck that would help.
It suddenly came off so easy, I knew I wasn't that useless.
Lessoned learned.

We hardly had the lines in and Cody got the first fish. He was very proud of that fact, he also caught two rock fish, they went straight back in. Next he caught two on his line. He had a great time.

Chey's great catch, I had to help her reel it in.
Cai was going great until he cut his finger, how he did it I dunno, jammed it somehow in the lid of the drink bottle. So it is was the scene of major dramas for him, typical male reaction to a bit of blood!
He wasn't so keen when the boat was moving either, a bit protestive over that but as soon as we stopped he would perk up and say "all gone"

talk about a beauty evening, we came home with a good feed for us all, just as well because the way my kids hoe into fish, you gotta be quick or you miss out. Little oinkers.

Perfect end to the day, in for a good nights sleep now thats for sure.

Pets Day

It was the first time we have been in NZ for the school pet carnival. They both wanted lambs for it but in the end didn't put in the time and effort to train them so I was not prepared to take them down and have them dragged round. They know now what is expected.
They did enter in some art work and baking, sewing, photgraphy and other creative projects.
They did well with their art work, whatever Cheyenne got Cody got just after her, felt a bit for him here. He did get a 1st for his cake decorating, lol and he got a 2nd for his science project. He was stoked with that. Came home already planning next years science project.

Chey's 2nd place for her pencil drawings and Cody got 3rd

Competing in the relays, a bit like young farmer of the year. Was fun to watch.

Whats a day out without a hot sausage in bread!

Or an ice cream.
She had a butterfly wing painted on one side of her face and last night when scrubbed off, she had a very neat sunburn line around it. This morning I rubbed more cream into her face, her comment was, "well at least you only have to do half my face Mum"!
We all came home feeling the result of some sunshine on our shoulders, a stunning day and most enjoyable. So well done my gromies, I am proud of your efforts and results X
